Design and Display

Simple and classy design, Non-metallic body made up of polycarbonate which is lighter than aluminum and steel and yet it is strong. The multiple-coating on the frame gives it a metallic look though and also the front and back is tapped with Corning gorilla glass 3 with curves at the ends where it meets the polycarbonate.

Back panel is flat with a bulged circular camera module just like the Moto Z camera set up. The Zeiss logo is not printed on the camera section might be because Nokia 6.2 camera is not developed in collaboration with Zeiss, will update this info in near future.
For the charging part there is USB-C and no micro-USB. Also it has a 3.5mm headphone jack that most of the latest phones are lacking for wireless earbuds support only. The buttons section has Volume UP/DOWN, Power and Google Assistant button, a dedicated one. The other thing is it has a finger print sensor not on-screen but at the back panel just below the cameras.

Now the Color availability, it is available in only two variants – Charcoal and Ice.
Now for the display part it has 6.3” LCD with small dewdrop notch, FHD+ resolution and 500 nits of brightness. The screen glows with colors. The color accuracy and light generation is fine but it would be nice if it was an OLED. Also, it is HDR supportive easily coverts SDR to HDR and you’ll be able to watch HDR 10 content from Netflix and Amazon Prime. The Nokia 6.2 pure display converts all the videos to Real-time HDR+ videos giving you the vibrant colors and sharp images.

Camera:

There are three camera sensors packed inside a circle having 16MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 5MP for depth and 8MP for wide angle photography at f/2.2 aperture (120 degree wide angle photography). Videos can be shot at 2160p @30fps and 1080p@30fps and there’s also a dedicated night-mode for low-light pictures. At the front there is an 8MP camera for selfies at f/2.

Take a look at the below video -

Processor

Nokia 6.2 is powered by Snapdragon 636 octa core processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which is a little old if compared to Nokia 7.2 that has Snapdragon 660 with 128GB of storage and 4GB RAM.

Software

Being an Android One phone, it will get a quick update to Android 10 shortly and as promised by HMD global two years of regular updates and three years of security updates. The phones with Android One are bloat free gives you a good experience and also Nokia worked well on its camera app too so that will be a thing to watch.

Verdict

Nokia never really found the right price point for its products in India. They are generally expensive as compared to their rivals, people in India are price cautious and Chinese phone makers know this so they compete accordingly for lower price points. Nokia offering 6.2 at Rs 16,000 for 4GB/64GB but the reality is that at a cheaper price than Rs-16.000 consumers has an option to purchase others with pocket friendly prices and premium specifications. Take a look at these phones from the competitors –

Redmi note 7 pro that has (Snapdragon 675, 48MP camera, Gorilla Glass 5, fast charging and Price – Rs12,000/-).

Then there is Xiaomi Mi A3(Snapdragon 665, 48MP triple cameras/32MP front camera, 4000mAh battery, Gorilla Glass5, and Price for 6GB/128GB- Rs 13,000).

Realme 5 Pro with (Snapdragon 712, 48MP Main/16MP front camera, 4000mAh battery, fast charging and Price – Rs14,000 for 4GB/64GB).

Samsung Galaxy M30S has (6000mAh battery, 48MP triple cam setup/16MP front, Price for 4GB/64GB – Rs 14,000/-)

The only benefits of Nokia 6.2 are timely software upgrade promise for 2 years and Android 10 immediate up gradation that means phone will have a smooth experience. Also, Camera setup is also a tough competition to the like of 48MPs and M30S etc and finally the Display that is quiet good in terms of colors, sharpness and HDR+.

Ever since Nokia made a comeback, it produced a variety of great phones from basics to smart ones, from reviving the classic Nokia 3310 to agreeing to go with Android. It still has that place among the masses that are still loyal to the brand because of its durability and trust. But the times are different now, it’s no longer that period when majority of consumers were buying the basic phones, now the competition is very high and the other players are entering day by day with astonishing features and at very affordable prices. It was Samsung for a while after Nokia stepped down and now the Chinese brands have taken over the pocket friendly section that is mid-range and below mid-range section. You’ll find phones having nearly premium features starting from Rs 7,000 to Rs 15,000 and majority of these are from Mi, Oppo/Vivo, Realme; and a handful from Samsungs, Motorolas and others as well.

But the thing to be noted is that Chinese may be playing for the money game but Nokia surely is playing for the Quality for it is known since ages. The price may be higher than the Chinese rivals but the comparison of the specs between them and Nokia will surely be a plus point for Nokia as it is known for quality and durability for decades. Only the owner can tell about the experience of usage of 4-6 months and then only the difference can be noted down between all. Let’s wait and watch!
